Girls Basketball – Post season starts 2/13. Wrestling – Sectionals @ Independence 2/6. Districs @ Solon Bowling – we host boys bowling 2/15 @ Viper Lanes 10:30 am start We host girls bowling 2/16 @ Viper Langes 10:30 am start Uniform Update – Factors to consider when considering When was the last time new uniforms were purchased? What is the condition of the current set of uniforms? How much is the total cost and what funds are available in the club account? What is the philosophy of uniforms for the program? Ex: buy a quantity that outfits everyone 9-12, buy a quantity that is just for varsity and the old uniforms get passed down. Girls basketball uniforms (2014) – they have plenty, however many of the home ones are stained. They are varsity uniforms that have also doubled as JV. JV jerseys need to be thrown out. The away JV is a mixed variety. With numbers going up this year and next year they will struggle to have enough uniforms. Last were purchased in 2014. Softball (2017) – Future purchase would be 3-4 years down the road. Volleyball – Home 2019, away 2016. Varsity uniforms are good for a few years, but JV, JJV and freshman could be replaced. Plan to revisit after next year. JV and freshman are from 2012 and JJV from 2014. Track (2016) Need to update new school logos, but not an immediate need. Wrestling - Will need new uniforms in the future as current ones have the NEIC logo on the back of them. Boys Basketball Girls Tennis – wants to move away from the dresses they currently have, they are not comfortable or functional. Boys Tennis – just purchased for this past year, not sure on inventory, but they are a drifit material shirt. Coaches Open Forum: Jason Gearhart – Cross County uniforms – they currently borrow from track and do not have their own. They have growing numbers with expected 18 boys/18 girls next year. $75.00/uniform. Coach requested booster club cover half the cost of uniforms which would be $1725.00. Motion: Terry Rex made a motion to pay $1725.00 to cover half the cost of new Cross Country uniforms. Second Erin Ryan. All ayes – motion carried. Baseball uniforms are currently 9 years old and players have to supply their own pants. There is currently only 10 pairs each of home and away pants. The rest are shot with major holes in the backside and knees. Coach would like to get 30 sets of home and away uniforms. Cost is 92.00/set he is asking for half the cost to be covered by booster club $2750.00 Motion: Missy made a motion to cover half the cost of $2750.00 for new baseball, uniforms. Second Terry Rex, All ayes – motion carried Bob Lape – Football – We will currently be short 12 sets of uniforms with the numbers we have in the program as of today. The goal is to get every player in the same uniform and not have 4 different sets. The JV uniforms are also in bad shape with numbers peeling off, they were a cheap selection to fill a need. The total cost of uniforms through Powers in Waterloo will be around 15,000.00 for 70 sets of away/70 sets of home and 70 sets of pants. The club has 5,000.00 from can collections. Plan would be to keep the same uniform and only reorder as needed to replace rather than a large order to be needed again. Request is for 10,000.00 from the Booster Club. Motion:Terry Rex made a motion to allocate up to 10,000 for the purchase of new football uniforms, Second Erin Ryan, all ayes – motion carried. New Business: Tennis – Heather Brown the new girls tennis coach looks to bring new energy and excitement to playing tennis at OHS. She would like to get the hitting backboard replaced. The current one is warped and not functional. She would like it to be 10 feet x 32 feet with cost of $8500.00 for a rally master back board. Ideally a wooden one could be made. The hitting board allows them to practice on their own and help for more practice and boosting confidence in playing. It was decided to hold on the board until the next meeting – we could certainly fund some, but need more info. Jim Prouty will speak with City Officials on this as the courts are partly used by the city. on this. Mr. Schauf will speak to Mr. Kastli and Mr. Dinsdale on making these and also consider this as a project for Senior Seminar. Monday/Tuesday next week the awards trophy case will be installed.
